Halloween

Very quickly I wanted to post a few Halloween pictures from last week. Jaxon was (as you can see) Spider Man (I was a impromptu Hocus-Pocus 'type' witch)! Jonathan had to go out of town Monday night and wasn't able to come with us. We only did trick-or-treating around our neighborhood so it wasn't like he missed too much. I hope that next year we can put together a larger 'entourage' and get EVERYONE in the neighborhood into it. We had a great time and actually got more candy we usually get when we go to downtown Covington. The night was fun...and we even got trick-or-treaters at our house after we got home, which was good because we had TONS of candy!

Our Attempted Camping Trip

The weekend before Halloween, Jonathan had planned a REAL camping trip for us to go on.  We traveled to Wildcat Creek near Clarksville, Georgia in the North Georgia Mountains. Although I was not enthusiastic about going camping in late October, I figured I'd take one for the team and tough it out with my two boys. We arrived and it was so beautiful!
The weather was perfect, leaves changing, arrived early... everything going as planned. We did a little roaming and even attempted fishing (without luck), but by 6pm Jaxon was asleep, so we coughed it up to a busy day and we both crawled into our sleeping bags and called it an early night. Day two, we woke up to rain. We expected a little rain the first day so we were pretty accepting of this...to begin with. But when the temp started to drop and the rain kept coming - spirits started getting low. We played Chutes & Ladders and CandyLand but that can only go on for soooo long trapped in a tent. So the decision was made to go home first thing the next morning. I felt so horrible that Jon's camping trip was so disappointing, but it wasn't a complete bust. We will go back early spring next year (when it is MUCH warmer) try the camping experience again. I did manage to get in a few good pictures on the first day, before all the rain came in and my camera got parked inside the car.

I know....I'm a horrible updater!

Last week we took a trip to visit some of my family in South Carolina, this was an especially special trip for several reasons. I was particularly worried because I took the trip alone with Jaxon. I wasn't sure how he would do during a 4 or 5 hour drive but things worked out perfectly and Jaxon was an absolute dream during the car ride (a good car-ride soundtrack also helps).  Since, I'm HORRIBLE at posting pictures or updating, I decided since I just finished uploading these from my camera, I should go ahead and load these to our blog so the rest of the family can enjoy.

After Ice Cream - We had a fun time getting the blue off.

Jaxon adored the beach! However, being the over-prepared / over-packer that I am, my enormous load of stuff I brought to the beach was a little overwhelming, and each trip - each day our necessities dwindled more and more. Jaxon was absolutely great while we were there and we can't wait to go back.

My Photoshop Solution

Anyone who knows me knows that I am pretty obsessive about my various calendars and planners. I have always had trouble finding one that's cute BUT effective. Therefore, creating  my own just seemed like the solution. I'm happy with the way these turned out, I may have to make a few adjustments for it to be used for all the stuff I keep up with, but it's a starting point.

(I plan on binding and using after my current one expires.)

February till Now (part 1)

I am so behind on posting ANYTHING. I guess I will start with the last holiday, Valentines. My Valentines Day really did deserve some recognition, but I have been so busy with odds-and-ends sort of things, that I never really got around to mentioning.  This was my Surprise Valentines gift & where she lives....on my desk in my bedroom.

Jonathan and Jaxon did pretty good wouldn't you say? I LOVE my new purple cricut! Not only did I get this, but I came home to a clean house & a homemade card (from the two of them), it was certainly something to brag about.

And here's some goodies we sent off for Broox's classroom Valentine's party.
(Forgive me for not remembering to photography BEFORE we wrapped the entire thing in cellophane.)

CONSIGNMENT...
this is the number 1 reason that it has taken me this long to blog about anything - (p.s. thank you Stephanie for letting me use your tagging gun, or it would have been a nightmare for my fingers - like last year.)
This was an interesting ride to say the least, NEXT time if I have a big item, it won't be riding in my car.  Poor Jaxon couldn't even get in the car through any of the passenger doors. I ended up having to squeeze him from the driver's seat into the back.

But... It was worth the 30+ outfits and 4 pairs of shoes I bought to get him started for the Spring.

I've been unplugged

Well, I have been meaning to get around to loading pictures and blogging about all sorts of fun things we've been doing around the house but somehow I haven't been able to sit down for a solid few minutes and get any of it done. I figure this is step one. And although I am extremely behind, and should probably start with oldest stuff first...I'm not. I thought I would share this adorable project I had Jaxon do this morning.  With us getting ready for gardening, and with having SPRING on the brain, I thought this would be more appropriate.
(I bought our kit at The Home Depot, but I believe you can find these about anywhere. They also come in a few different themes.)

I kinda Loved this One

Since I'm such a wild one (lol),  my Saturday night was spent watching a child's movie.  And I have to say, I really really liked it!  It was quite edgy.  Clever comedy,  cute soundtrack (score done by Pharell Williams), and it actually made me cry.  If you have a kid, or just like cartoons - this is such a perfect Friday/Saturday night movie.
